| A friend of mine in the states named Sassy picked me up from LAX last week and played me a cd called Antikz of the Ragged she said she\'d found at Amoeba music on Sunset. We obviously didn\'t have time to listen to the album in it\'s entirety, as her place isn\'t far from the airport, but throughout the course of several rides about town, during the next couple days I was lucky enough to get a hefty dose of this fantastic group I\'d never heard of. I googled the band UBNAWKSHIS and came to find these guys were never signed to a major and it really sort of depressed me. Has the music industry lost all sense of the greats when they come along, for the sake of monitary gain from silly jingles and mindless club hits? Truly a sad case; Great duo-- deadbeatz and obnoxious (ubnawkshis). I've read 'pink floyd of rap' but it made me see the doors meets house of pain or something. trippy, disturbing, enlightening, authentic. obnoxus' voice is fANTASTIC and deadbeatz music was eerie and painful and the pair fit like a worn glove. so the big mystery is, when it's all said and done, what happened to music like this? |

| Reviewed Album : all in vein |
|
| I recently was fortunate enough to get my hands on an album entitled 'all in vein' by a las vegas rap duo called ubnawkshis. suffise to say, the music was poignant, original and flourished with abstract thought and relatable themes. I was thoroughly impressed with the group's creativity and style. If u can get your hands on any of their music, i highly recommend you do. Ubnawkshis may very well be the 'pink floyd of rap' |
